Mae Theisen, 93, of Mt. Pleasant died Tuesday, May 27, 2003 at the Wooden Rocker. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Robert Byrne officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at Lux Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with a vigil service beginning at 7 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Thursday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the Sacred Heart Academy Foundation or Heartland Hospice. Envelopes are available at Lux Funeral Home. Mae was born February 3, 1910, in Weidman, the daughter of Edward and Mattie (Gordon) Olger. She married Clarence Theisen on Aug. 19, 1931 at Sacred Heart. In 1927, Mae received the Carnegie medal for saving the life of a man who was being attacked by a raging bull. She graduated from Central Michigan College in 1931 with a teaching degree. She taught at Deerfield Center for three years, Sacred Heart for three years, and later at Coleman Elementary for seven years. She retired in 1976. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church and the altar society. She volunteered her time at CMCH in the ladies auxiliary and also at the Isabella County Senior Center. Mae is survived by nine children, Phyllis (Henry) Ahlers of Mt. Pleasant, John (Nancy) Theisen of Weidman, Thomas (Brenda) Theisen of Lake, William (Joyce) Theisen of Indian River, Mary (Robert) Sproule of Davison, Eugene (Jan) Theisen of Mt. Pleasant, Rita (Bruce) Cline of Marshall, Pauline (Steve) Thomas of Laingsburg, and Patrick (Sue) Theisen of DeWitt; 28 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Lehnert of Mt. Pleasant and Gertrude (Sid) Wood of Weidman; and a sister-in-law, Geri Olger of Blanchard. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence in 1985; two brothers, Edward Jr. and Dewey Olger; two grandchildren, Brian Ahlers and Marcia Theisen; and a great granddaughter, Amanda Jones.
