Laban George Zimmerman Jr.

Laban Zimmerman, 74, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2020, at his home. He was born November 20, 1945, in Mechanicsburg, PA, son of the late Laban G. and Emma (Longenecker) Zimmerman. He married Martha Faye Kreider on October 7, 1967, in East Petersburg, PA. Laban was a member of the Spring Creek Mennonite Church where he served as deacon. He is survived by six children, Stephen George (Teresa) Zimmerman of Canfield, OH, Michael Alan (Twila) Zimmerman of Canton, OH, Carla Faye (Wesley) Reinford of Nisland, SD, Daniel Eugene (Rosene) Zimmerman of Mt. Pleasant, Darren Joel (Martina) Zimmerman of Canfield, OH, and Leslie Wayne (Verna) Zimmerman of Macuelizo Honduras, CA; 43 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; siblings, Barbara "Janie" Dougherty of Dillsburg, PA, Faye (Paul) Deiter of Myerstown, PA, Fern  (Steven) Zook of Bainbridge, PA, and Linda Zimmerman of Dillsburg, PA; and in-laws, Joanne (Baer) Zimmerman of Unity, WI and Ralph Villanueva of Morris, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Marlin Zimmerman; sister, Esther Villanueva; and three infant grandsons. The family will receive friends at Great Lakes Mennonite Church (720 Ann Arbor Trail, Clare MI 48617) on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. He will be laid to rest in his home state of Pennsylvania next week.
