Larry Earl Smith

Larry Smith, 74, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2015, at Medilodge of Mt. Pleasant. His funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18, at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home with Pastor Tony Waldrop of Glad Tidings Church officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow at the funeral home. Larry will be cremated after the service and his ashes will be interred in Chippewa Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. and on Friday one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Larry was born Dec. 24, 1940, in Mt. Pleasant, son of the late Ray and Mary Dale (Elliott) Smith. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving from 1958-1962. On January 16, 1960, Larry married Pauline Seeley in Mt. Pleasant. He was employed by Dow Chemical for over 23 years as a journeyman pipefitter and clerk. He enjoyed deer hunting and raced homing pigeons. Larry is survived by his wife of 55 years, Pauline; four children, Paula (Steve) Brown of Shepherd, and Larry Ray Smith, Pamela (Dale) Harnish and Jerry (Liz) Smith, all of Mt. Pleasant; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Bernard Smith of Sebring, FL; sister, Joyce Wilson of Homer; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gene Elliott; and two sisters, Donna Stickler and Beverly Ketchum.
