Larry Michael West, 81, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Saturday, September 8, 2018, at McLaren Hospital Bay Region in Bay City. A Funeral Mass for Mike will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 12, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Don Henkes as celebrant. A luncheon will follow at Lincoln Reception Center (attached to Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home). The family will receive friends at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4-7:30 p.m. with the Vigil beginning at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Wednesday one hour prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to Morey Cancer Center. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church. Mike was born July 8, 1937, in Rosebush, MI, son of the late James Bernard and Tweedie Ina (Prout) West. Mike married Barbara Ann Kirby on January 6, 1956, in Indiana. He was employed by Dow Chemical for 20 years. He later worked for Leo Beard and Gene Smith at Lincoln-Mercury. He became owner of West Auto Sales and operated the business until his retirement in 1989 at which time he and Barbara moved to Empire, MI. They returned to Mt. Pleasant in 2005. Mike is survived by three children, Chris (Nancy) West of Mt. Pleasant, Bruce West (Nan Larson) of Shepherd, and Michelle Jackson of Mt. Pleasant; six grandchildren, Jessica (Trevor) Brooks and Sarah Tefft, Crystal West, and Jacqueline Jackson, Barry Jackson and Ozzie Jackson; 13 great-grandchildren, Richard, Christopher, Elise, Seray, Charlie, Josie, Jasmine, Mayson, Harley, Garner, Jozzlyn, Izak, and Hailey; one great-great grandson, Marz; two sisters, Veronica Lol Gothup of Mt. Pleasant and Florence Tip Phillips of Lake Isabella; in-laws, Gene (Beth) Kerby of Benzonia, Darlene Gray of Honor, Maria (Jack) Shippey of St. Johns, Fred (Dorothy) Kerby of Benzonia, Wayne Kerby of Mt. Pleasant, Debbie (Denny) Keitzman of Jackson, and Kim Mead of Sparta; and many nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara; four brothers and their spouses, Joe and Rose West, Jack and Betty West, Richard West, and Gerald Ace Butch West; in-laws, Keith Gothup, Bill Phillips, Tom and Connie Kerby, Cheryl Carpenter, Shirley and Marvin Young, and Bryce Gray.
