LaVern Yuncker, 70, of Beal City, passed away Monday, Jan. 25, 2016, at home, surrounded by his family. A Funeral Mass for LaVern will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Beal City with Father Ricky Varner presiding. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the Knights of Columbus Hall. The family will receive friends in the gathering room of the church on Wednesday from 2:30-4:30 and 6:30-8:30 p.m. with a Rosary beginning at 8:00 p.m. Visitation continues on Thursday one hour prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church or Woodland Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the church or at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home. LaVern was born June 22, 1945, in Mt. Pleasant, son of the late Herbert and Elizabeth Ella (Smith) Yuncker. A 1964 graduate of Beal City High School, LaVern married Linda Fedewa on July 2, 1966, at St. Philomena Church in Beal City. He owned and operated The Beal City Tavern Gerns from 1979 until he retired in 2008. He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish and the Knights of Columbus Council 3651. Some of his favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing, playing cards, and watching Beal City Football. But nothing was more important to him than spending time with his grandchildren, every day after school. LaVern is survived by his wife of nearly fifty years, Linda; three children, Kelly (Paul) Pung of Beal City, Corey (Laura) Yuncker of Lake Isabella and Kevin (Kristine) Yuncker of Lake Isabella; eight grandchildren, Rachel Pung and Adam Pung, Ashleigh Berry, Jourdan Beau Berry and Easton Yuncker, and Alyssa (Jason) Windemuller, Kyle Yuncker, and Mackenzie Yuncker; two sisters, Arlene (Don) Cotter of Beal City and Dolores (Don) Krueger of Beal City; two sisters-in-law, Joyce Yuncker of Beal City and Joan Yuncker of Lake Isabella; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herb in 1986 and Ella in 2008; and two brothers, Evan in 2001 and Richard in 2008.
