Lawrence Anthony Gabel

Lawrence Anthony Gabel, 63, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away unexpectedly, Sunday, July 21, 2019, in Holland, Michigan. He was born February 2, 1956, in Galesburg, Illinois, son of Lawrence Philip and Alice June (Smith) Gabel. A 1974 graduate of Galesburg High School, Tony earned his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Ferris State University in 1979. He married Janet Hoover on October 4, 1980, at St. Roberts Catholic Church in Flushing, Michigan. He was a member of Delta Sigma Pi at Ferris State University, loved blues music, and more than anything, loved spending time with his family. Tony is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years, Janet; daughter, Lauren Gabel of Washington D.C., mother and step-father, June Gabel and Kenny Swanson of Galesburg; brothers, Brian (Darla) Gabel and Brent Gabel, both of Galesburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. Tonys funeral will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday, July 26, at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home with Father Don Henkes officiating. A meal will follow in Lincoln Reception Center (attached to the funeral home). Interment of his ashes will be in Calvary Cemetery following the meal. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lawrence Anthony Tony Gabel Memorial Fund through Isabella Bank, 139 E. Broadway, Mt. Pleasant MI 48858. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
