Lawrence C. Loomis, 80, of Lake Isabella and formerly of Trenton died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004, at the Laurels in Mt. Pleasant. A funeral Mass celebrating his life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 20, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Beal City with Father John Cotter presiding. Friends may call at Lux Funeral Home on Thursday from 6-9 p.m. with a vigil service beginning at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Friday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the New Life/New Hope Campaign at Central Michigan Community Hospital. Envelopes are available at Lux Funeral Home Lawrence was born Oct. 7, 1923, in Ecorse, the son of Cyril and Cecilia (Spade) Loomis. He married Helen Shevnock on Dec. 30, 1944, at St. Francis Xavier in Ecorse. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. He also was a former volunteer for the Gibralter Fire Department, and loved to travel and hunt. Lawrence is survived by his wife, Helen Loomis of Lake Isabella; two daughters, Janet (Robin) Wooley of Baldwinsville, NY, and Donna (Gary) Foldi of Hurst, TX; two granddaughters, Nicole and Kelsey Wooley; his brother, Ronald Loomis of Trenton; and three sisters, Priscilla Vaderna of Riverview, Dolores (Frank) Osimo of Daytona Beach, and Marilyn Jolly of St. Helen.
