Leland Kelly, 86, of Mt. Pleasant and formerly of Houghton Lake passed away Friday, April 9, 2010, at Central Michigan Community Hospital He was born Dec. 11, 1923, in Detroit, the son of the late John and Beulah (McWilliams) Kelly. After the death of his first wife, Shirley, he later married Margaret (Wade) Young on Sept. 30, 2000. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Leland served as a bomber pilot during World War II. He received his masters degree from Wayne State University and was employed by Pontiac State Hospital as a teacher, working with emotionally impaired children. He had owned and operated the Music Box in Houghton Lake. Leland made friends very easily and, as a friend, he would do anything for you. Leland is survived by his wife, Margaret of Mt. Pleasant; step-daughter, Sheryl (Frank) Falzone of Livonia; 2 step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; his brother, Keith (Lois) Kelly of Lake Orion; and sister-in-law, May Kelly of Chicago, IL. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley; and his brother, Claude Kelly. Cremation has taken place and services will be held at a later date.
