Lenora T. Allgire, 85, of Defiance, Ohio, died Monday, May 5, 2003 in Toledo, Ohio. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Thursday at Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home in Defiance with a Mass of Christian Burial being celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John Catholic Church in Defiance. Visitation will then continue in Mt. Pleasant at Lux Funeral Home on Friday from 6-9 p.m. Pre-committal prayers will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 10 a.m. followed by a procession to St. Joseph Cemetery in Beal City where Father John Cotter will lead committal prayers. Lenora was born Dec. 11, 1917, in Beal City, the daughter of Joseph and Eva (Fitzgerald) Smith. She married Claude Allgire in 1971. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Defiance. She retired from Defiance City Schools. She was a member of the Women of the Moose, the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, Defiance Hospital Auxiliary, an Elks associate member, and an active Knights of Columbus volunteer. She is survived by two sons, Gerald (Jean) Ludwig of Elkhart, Ind. and Ken (Kathy) Ludwig of Defiance; three daughters, Patricia (Robert) Vetter of Bryan, OH, Carol (Jack) DeLano of Ayersville, OH, and Sharon (Roger) Kroeckel of Defiance; 20 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; one brother, Bernard Smith of Shepherd; and two sisters, Josephine Cuthbert of Flint and Mary Lou Smith of Stanwood. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude in 1991; three brothers, Edward, Lyle and Earl Smith; three sisters, Gretchen David, Kathryn Breuer, and Freida Price; and a great grandson.
