Lea Fussman, 89, of Portland OR and formerly of Mt. Pleasant passed away January 15, 2014, at Marquis Piedmont Assisted Care Facility in Portland OR. A Funeral Mass for Lea will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 28, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Melvin Fox presiding and Deacon Larry Fussman assisting. The family will receive friends one hour prior to Mass. Following Mass, a luncheon will be served at Lux Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant. Leas ashes will be interred in St. Joseph Cemetery in Beal City. Lea was born Dec. 18, 1924, in Grand Ridge, FL, daughter of the late Albert William and Clara (Stone) Lewis. She married Walter Fussman on Oct. 23, 1981 at St. Joseph the Worker Church in Beal City. She worked as a telephone operator for Merrill Stevens Shipyard in Jacksonville, FL and was later employed by Central Michigan University as a public safety dispatcher. She loved flower gardening and solving crossword puzzles. Lea is survived by her son, Earl (Sharon) Francis of Lancaster, PA; step-daughter, Cristiane (David) Konkle of Grass Lake; daughter-in-law, Kay Francis of Fairgrove; one brother, Earl Lewis of Grand Ridge, FL; five grandchildren including special granddaughter, Dr. Amy Watson of Portland OR; and two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Lewis of Grand Ridge, FL and Ethel Lewis of Middleburg, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; son, Clayton Francis; daughter, Lola Hooker; two sisters, Eunice Theus and Elizabeth Zettner; and three brothers, Albert, Marcus and Richard Lewis.
