She was active in Alpha Chi Omega, serving as an advisor and Board member for many years and was Panhellenic Advisor. While in the Creative Arts Gallery, Leone sought and hosted hundreds of nationally renowned artists of many different mediums. During her tenure, it was more than a gallery; it was a gathering place where people congregated to spin tales, pottery wheels and webs of connections, while socializing, debating social issues, pondering personal problems, and taking advantage of Leones listening ear. She delighted in mentoring students and artists. During Leones marriage, she worked in various roles, moving all over the country while Ed was in the Air Force and during his career relocations with Oldsmobile, General Motors Corp. She and Ed moved to Mt. Pleasant in 1961 shortly before his death. Leone was a very talented musician playing violin, saxophone and piano. Growing up, she and her siblings played in various bands in church, high school and college, a passion she continued into her adult life. Tennis was a big part of Leones life. She started playing tennis as a child, won a state championship in high school, played varsity tennis at Western Michigan University, and played with Big Bill Tilden, one of the greatest tennis players of all time. She continued playing the game well into her 90s and her tennis teammates were a big part of her life. She was an all around, multi-sport athlete. Leone was a lifelong learner, loving and collecting books and works of art. She was a supreme host, always entertaining friends and family. She loved to travel, visiting her children as they moved across the continent and visiting friends she met, always staying connected. Leone and loyalty were synonymous. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, selfless giver and will be greatly missed by all who loved her. Visitation is at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home, 2300 S Lincoln Rd. in Mt.
