Linda Lou (Downing) Bower of Mt. Pleasant passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at home with family by her side.
Per Linda's wishes, there will be no services.
The family requests that donations be made in lieu of flowers to Heartland Hospice in Mt. Pleasant.
Linda was born April 14, 1945, in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of Toney and Eva (Lackie) Downing. She married Gary Bower on May 22, 1965, in Mt. Pleasant.
Linda graduated from Central Michigan University and went on to become a primary school (second grade) teacher at Farwell Elementary School for twenty (20) years.
After retiring from teaching, she and Gary opened a landscaping and flower business, Flowers by the Garden Shed, which they operated for several years.
Linda was an avid reader who enjoyed baking, traveling, shopping, and going to casinos. Most of all, she loved spending time with her husband, daughter, son, and grandchildren.
Linda is survived by her loving, devoted husband of sixty (60) years, Gary; two children, Christy (Tim) Marchiando of Weidman and Mark Bower of Mt. Pleasant; one grandson, Kelly Bower of Mt. Pleasant; two bonus grandchildren, Kyle Reihl and Kerrigan Reihl; and three great-grandsons, Bryson Bower, Kacyn Bower, and Brextin Bower. Linda is also survived by Shelly Reihl of Rosebush, mother of her grandchildren, and one brother-in-law, Anthony Bower.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Terry Tiedeman; three sisters-in-law, Ruth Bower, Virgilene (Chuck) Owens, and Bonny (Hurley) Kampf; two brothers-in-law, Dan (Joan) Bower and Terry (Mary) Bower; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
