With her sisters Joann, Jean, and Lois, she lived on the family farm until her marriage to Henry Lewis Prout. Linda attended the rural Leaton school until it was consolidated with the Rosebush Elementary school. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School. Linda always enjoyed being with people and sharing her wit and humor, especially if they were having fun. She was a member of the Leaton United Methodist Church and also the Youth Fellowship group doing many fun things as a teenager. One of the greatest moments of her life was when she accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior. This brought her great peace in her last days of life. The White Wagon restaurant was her place of employment for years where she met many friends. She was noted for her smile, dedicated quick service and the customers bottomless cup of coffee. Her words were, with God and the White Wagons employment, my family and I were taken care of for many years. She also worked at the Isabella Community Credit Union as well as the Dinner Bell. One of her great enjoyments was the Rosebush Garden Club where she learned to grow many beautiful flowers. Every Easter she planned a special time with her grandchildren doing a craft. One Easter they made bird feeders and had the honor of having a picture published in the Birds and Blooms magazine. Her house was always aglow with decorations, especially at Christmas time. In February of 2002 she was diagnosed with cancer. In June she took part in the Relay for Life cancer walk and was sponsored by many friends and relatives. Her display for the walk was the Prout Mudboggers by two of her sons. This display took first place. She had participated in the walk for some years before she was diagnosed. She fought a great fight. She had many family caregivers who gave of themselves to take care of her at her home in Rosebush. She will be greatly missed by her children, Brian (Jenny) Prout, Heather (Andy) Frisch, Bradley Prout and Randy Prout; grandchildren, Christopher, Justine, Manuel, Morgan, Emily, Brandon, Aria and Mandel; her sisters, Joann (Bernard) Smith, Jean (Bruce) Sabin and Lois (Edgar) Mayer; and many nieces, nephews and close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gardiner and Esther Muterspaugh.
