Lloyd E. Carroll, 94 of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Monday, September 1, 2008 at Central Michigan Community Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, September 5, 2008 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Denis Heames presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home, 2300 S. Lincoln Rd. Visitation continues at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the Mass begins. Lloyd was born December 1, 1913 in Pleasant Valley, the son of Archie and Annette Searles. After the death of his parents Lloyd was adopted by Patrick and Hannah Carroll. He graduated from Sacred Heart Academy on June 17, 1931. He married Dorothy Martin on February 5, 1938 at Sacred Heart. Lloyd served in the United States Army during World War II in Europe. He was a florist at Elliott Greenhouse for many years. Lloyd was a long time member of Knights of Columbus, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a lifetime member of Sacred Heart Parish. Lloyd enjoyed collecting coins and stamps, gardening, fishing, playing cards and especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Lloyd is survived by five children and their spouses, Dorothy Ann (Gary) Cole of Mt. Pleasant, Susan (Robert) Wender of Maumee, OH, Marilyn (Norm) Assmann of Mt. Pleasant, Joseph (Janis) Carroll of Mt. Pleasant and David (Monica) Carroll of Mt. Pleasant; 12 grandchildren and spouses, Mark (Julie) Cole, Scott (Cindy) Cole, Laurie (Greg) House, Terrie (Derrick) House, Rene (Russell) Tiejema, Steven Assmann, Brian (Tina) Assmann, Bill (Suzie) Carroll, Mike (Shelli) Carroll, Katherine Carroll, Erika (Brian) Ross, and Stephanie Carroll; 16 great-grandchildren, Emily, Hannah and Katie Cole, Sam, Taylor and Ben Cole, Joe and Lauren Watson, Andrew, Isabel and Daniel House, Ethan Tiejema, Nolan Assmann, Allyssa Carroll, Wyatt and Ben Ross; one great-great grandson, Aiden Cole. In addition to wife Dorothy and son Michael, Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, sisters and brother.
