Lorena "Ming" M. Mongeau

Lorena M. Mongeau, 87, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2002 at Central Michigan Community Hospital. Her memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, at Lux Funeral Home with Deacon Larry Fussman officiating. Her ashes will be buried in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 11 a.m. until service time. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation (AMDF), P.O. Box 515, Northampton, MA 01061-0515. AMDF is currently an incurable eye disease and leading cause of blindness for those 55 and older. Envelopes are available at Lux Funeral Home. Lorena was born Aug. 28, 1914, in Breckenridge, the daughter of James and Orpha (Mettert) Holton. She married Paul Izzy Mongeau in 1937. She was an executive secretary for 18 years in the Guidance Counselors office at Central Michigan University. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church and the altar society. She enjoyed watching basketball, baseball and golf. She especially loved birdwatching. Lorena is survived by four sons, Jim (Barb) Mongeau of Lansing, Mike Mongeau of Livonia, Dave (Edna) Mongeau of Mt. Pleasant and Pete Mongeau of Ohio; 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul in 1981. and her sister, Helen Hicks.
