Lorraine Stansberry, 82, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Monday, April 20, 2009, at Prestige Center in Mt. Pleasant, surrounded by her family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 23, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Denis Heames presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home, 2300 S. Lincoln Rd., on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with the Vigil beginning at 7 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Thursday one hour prior to the Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sacred Heart Academy Foundation or Woodland Hospice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Lori was born Aug. 27, 1926, in Ontario, Canada, the daughter of Alexander and Annie (Regan) Pigeon. She married George Stansberry on Dec. 25, 1943 at St. Sabina Church in Sabine, Ontario. She was employed by Central Michigan University for 18 years as administrator of Woldt, Emmons, Saxe, and Herrig Halls. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish, the Council of Catholic Women, and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed oil painting and taking care of people. Lori is survived by her husband of 65 years, George of Mt. Pleasant; four children, Penelope (Dante) Vannelli of Lake Orion, Dr. Peter (Sheila) Stansberry of N. Olmsted, OH, Robert (Dena) Stansberry of Riverdale, and Mark (Suzanne) Stansberry of Mt. Pleasant; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; her brother, Keith (Marguerite) Pigeon of Ontario; four sisters, Vivian Dunne, Beryl (Murray) Lee, Margaret Sedden, and Colleen (George) Presland, all of Ontario; her brother-in-law, Ken Lavery of Ontario; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, James Stansberry; two sisters, Evelyn Cheslik and Phyllis Lavery; and her brother, Kenneth Pigeon.
