Lucille B. (Scully) Tilmann

Lucille B. (Scully) Tilmann, a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2025, at the age of 91.

Born on November 23, 1933, to Robert and Anna (O'Hara) Scully, Lucille was raised in Mt. Pleasant and graduated from Sacred Heart Academy with the Class of 1952. On April 30, 1955, she married the love of her life, Earl Tilmann, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Together, they built a warm and loving home rooted in faith and family.

Lucille dedicated her life to caring for her family. A homemaker in the truest sense, she found joy in simple pleasures, working on puzzles, visiting with neighbors, and she took great pride in tending to her yard. She was deeply involved in her faith community at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, where she generously gave her time to help with funeral luncheons and other parish activities.

Above all, Lucille's heart belonged to her family. She leaves behind her children: Vickie (Mike) Curtiss, Cathy (the late Glen) Smith, Gary (Penny Pappas) Tilmann, and Brad (Sidney) Tilmann; and her beloved grandchildren: Mandy (Ockie) Van Schalkwyk, Kelly (Kelly) Smith, Tamara (Josh) Henning, Stephanie (Anthony) Stachowiak, Joe (Sarah) Tilmann, Shelby (Brad) Holmes, Jake (Katelyn) Tilmann, and Mina (Ben) Curtiss; and her 15 great-grandchildren. Her love, strength, and gentle spirit will live on in each of them.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl; her parents; her son-in-law Glen Smith; and siblings Edward Scully, Robert Scully, Mary Cole, Margaret Millard, Roseann Forton, and William Scully.

A Funeral Mass for Lucille will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 29, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church with Father Andy LaFramboise presiding. Rite of Committal will follow in St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Cemetery, with a luncheon afterward at the Beal City Knights of Columbus Hall. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. and again on Tuesday beginning at 10 a.m.

Those wishing to honor Lucille's memory may consider a contribution to St. Joseph the Worker School. Envelopes will be available at the church.

Lucille's life was a quiet but steadfast example of love, service, and faith, and she will be dearly missed.
