Luella May Powis

Luella May Powis, 93, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Saturday, September 4, 2021, at Stone Lodge Assisted Living in Shepherd. Luella was born March 5, 1928, in Flint, Michigan, daughter of the late George and Beatrice (Hopkins) Heistand. She married Vernon Powis on June 21, 1945, in Shepherd. Luella enjoyed making quilts, flower gardening, and caring for her cats. More than anything, she loved her family. Luella is survived by her daughter, Susan Savage of Mt. Pleasant; daughter in-law, DeeAnn Powis;  six grandchildren, Karrie Powis, Kelly (Ray) Petrocelli, Matt (Heather) Powis, Levi (Morgan) Powis, Jeff (Tracey) Ward, and Rob Ward; 11 great grandchildren, Josh, Michael, Aria, Sierra, Sydney, Jake, Leo, Alex, Tre, Elise, and Annika; great-great grandson, Konor Curtis; and sister, Thelma Vining. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vernon Powis; son, Vernon Powis Jr.; son in-law, Fred Savage; and siblings, Delbert Heistand, Donald Heistand, and Shirley Lilly.
