Luella F. Swindlehurst

Luella F. Swindlehurst, 92, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Saturday, Aug. 19, 2006 at Maplewood in Mt. Pleasant. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Robert Byrne presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at Lux Funeral Home with a vigil service beginning at 7 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, the disease with which her daughter, Jeaneen was stricken (21311 Civic Center Dr., Southfield MI 48076). Envelopes are available at Lux Funeral Home. Luella was born Oct. 15, 1913 in Delwin, the daughter of Edward J. and Eliza J. (McReavy) Kohler. She married Robert J. Swindlehurst in 1934. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1932. She was a homemaker and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening, and cooking. She was known for her green thumb. Luella is survived by her two sons, Leland Swindlehurst of Mt. Pleasant and Richard (Lisa) Swindlehurst of Mt. Pleasant; four grandchildren, Ricky, Richard, Brandon, and Cara; three great-grandchildren, Jason, Trevor and Ricki; two sisters, Dorothy Shovers and Kathleen Nelson; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert in 1979; daughter, Jeaneen Dede Sheets in 2005; her parents; seven sisters, Caroline Connoly, Margaret Lambert, Gertrude Kohler, Ann Huebner, Helen Donelly, Marie Donohue, and Rena Kohler; and two brothers, Joseph and Peter Kohler.
