Lura Kiely, 90, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Friday, June 24, 2011, at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility. Cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time. The family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the Isabella County Medical Care Facility. Envelopes are available at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home. Lura was born April 8, 1921, in Winn, the daughter of the late, Harry and Ethelinda (Hey) Raymond. She married the late John Kiely on May 16, 1948, in Alma. A graduate of Houghton Lake High School in 1940, and a resident of the Vestaburg area for 50 years, Lura worked for Alma City Cleaners for several years and Montabella School Media Center for 5 years. She attended Edmore and Vestaburg Senior Centers before moving to Mt. Pleasant in 2002 when she started attending the Isabella County Commission on Aging. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and gardening. Lura is survived by two children, Sheila Dobie of Higgins Lake and John (Cheryl) Kiely of Wyandotte; two step-children, Peggy (Robert) Pisani and Terrance (Sidney) Kiely, both of Chicago, IL; four grandchildren; and her close friend, Joyce Hatinger of Vestaburg. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; son-in-law, Marvin Dobie; two brothers, Henry and Stanley Raymond; and two sisters, Helen Pyman and Martha Woodworth.
