Lydia MacDonald, 53, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Easter Sunday, April 4, 2010, at home with her family by her side. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 8, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Don Henkes presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. with the Vigil beginning at 7 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Thursday one hour prior to Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan or Lemmen-Holton Cancer Pavilion in Grand Rapids. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Lydia was born Aug. 28, 1956, in Flint, the daughter of the late Donald and Barbara (Boling) Beecher. She married Gregory MacDonald on Dec. 9, 1978, in Shepherd. She was employed by Central Michigan University and previously had worked at the Holiday Inn. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, gardening, nature watching, her cat, and most of all, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish. Lydia is survived by her husband of 30 years, Greg; son and daughter-in-law, David and Christina MacDonald of Farwell; two grandchildren, Sage and Kadan; and three siblings, Alease (Steve) Malesko of Lansing, Jeanette Beecher of Coleman, and John (Lori) Beecher of Alma. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Sue Beecher.
