Marcella Sharrar, 77, of Beal City passed away Monday, July 5, 2021, at home with her family by her side. She was born July 10, 1943, in Mt. Pleasant, daughter of the late Marcellus and Frances (Wilson) Thielen. She graduated from Beal City High School in 1961 and then from M.J. Murphy Beauty College in 1963. She married David Sharrar on November 30, 1963, at St. Philomena Catholic Church in Beal City. Marcella worked as a bookkeeper for over 30 years, most notably for Jack's Shell on Mission and High Streets which was owned by her husband, Dave. She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish where, at one time, she was on the finance committee. She enjoyed puzzles and flower gardening, but nothing gave her as much pleasure as the time she spent watching her great granddaughters. Marcella is survived by four sons, Joe (Sandy) Sharrar, Brian (Denise) Sharrar, Randy (Pam) Sharrar, and Tom (Amy) Sharrar; grandchildren, Mike (Shannon), Justin, Josh, Ashley, Karlee, Kollin, Cole, and Drew; great granddaughters, Mattison, Alayna, and Kennedy; siblings, Joe Thielen, Mary Ann Judge, Don (Joan) Thielen, and Kate (Rodger) Whiting; in-laws, Joan Thielen, Cindi Thielen, and Diane Sharrar; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marcellus and Frances Thielen; husband, David Sharrar; grandson, Matthew Sharrar; siblings, Betty Lou Woodbury, John Thielen, Gerald Thielen, Richard Thielen; and in-laws, Renee Thielen, Kay Thielen, Bruce Woodbury, Jim Judge Jr. and Doug Sharrar. A Funeral Mass for Marcella will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, July 9, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church with Father Thomas Held as celebrant. She will be laid to rest in St. Joseph Cemetery next to her husband, Dave. A luncheon will follow at the Beal City Knights of Columbus Hall. The family will receive friends at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home on Thursday from 4-7:30 p.m. with the Rosary beginning at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Friday one hour prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph the Worker School or Heartland Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the church or funeral home.
