Margaret A. Jackson, 85, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Saturday, April 12, 2003 at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Robert Byrne officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at Lux Funeral Home on Monday from 6-9 p.m. and on Tuesday from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. There will be a vigil service at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Visitation continues at the church on Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation or to the Commission on Aging. Envelopes are available at Lux Funeral Home. Margaret was born June 9, 1917, in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of William and Mary Maime (Carey) Gaudard, and step-daughter of Ralph Powell. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1935. On Nov. 24, 1936, she married Thomas Gordon Jackson. Together they owned and operated Jacksons Party Store. After Toms death in 1965, Margaret continued to run the business until it was sold in 1980. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish and a charter member of the Women of the Moose Chapter 338. She also served as Union Township Treasurer and chairman of the League of Women Voters. She dedicated over 60 years to the elections held in Union Township. She enjoyed playing cards and was an avid sports fan, but most of all she loved being with her family. Margaret is survived by two sons, Thomas Gordon Bud Jackson of Walloon Lake and Jeffery Jackson of Mt. Pleasant; two daughters, Sue (Carl) Robert of Lansing and Mary Jane (Ray) Benaske of Mt. Pleasant; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; one sister, Betty (Charlie) Johnson of Mt. Pleasant; two brothers, Jerry (June) Powell and James Powell, both of Mt. Pleasant; a sister-in-law, Jean Powell of Mt. Pleasant; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Thomas Jack Jackson; one son, Billy Jackson; one grandson, Bryan; two brothers, Max Gaudard and Tom Powell; and a step-siser, Mary Margaret Powell.
