Margaret "Margie" Joyce Chiappino

Margaret Chiappino, 92, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Monday, May 10, 2016, at Maplewood Assisted Living Facility. Cremation has taken place and a service to remember her life will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI with Father David Blazek officiating. The family is requesting no flowers. Margaret was born June 8, 1923, in Pittsburgh, PA, daughter of the late Andrew and Mary (Mitruczak) Medwig. In 1947 Margaret married Alexander Chiappino in Carnegie, PA. She was employed by Outer Drive Hospital as a Medical Transcriptionist. Margaret loved to read, cook, socialize, and support family sporting events. Margaret is survived by children, Alexis (Jim) McErlain of Canadian Lakes MI, and Mark Chiappino of San Diego CA; grandchildren, Aaron (Wendy) Smith, and Matthew Smith; great-grandchildren, Lucas, Evan, and Zoey Smith; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and seven siblings. A special thank you is extended by the family to Great Lakes Caring Hospice and Maplewood Assisted Living Facility.
