Margaret McGuire, 92, of Midland and formerly of Mt. Pleasant and Los Angeles, CA, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011, at Sterling House of Midland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 14, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Loren Kalinowski presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Academy Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the church or at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home. Margaret was born Dec. 28, 1918, in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of the late Joseph A. and Margaret E. (Fitzgerald) McGuire. Because of her mothers death at a very young age, Margaret moved to Grand Rapids where she graduated from Marywood Academy. After receiving her Associates Degree from Aquinas College she moved to Chicago and eventually Los Angeles where she worked as a legal secretary for 50 years. In the early 1960s she was president of the Legal Secretaries of Los Angeles. She was very involved with the Catholic Daughters in Los Angeles and also during the 10 years she lived in Florida. She is a former member of Sacred Heart Parish. Margaret is survived by her sister, Catherine Wheeler of Homestead, FL; sister-in-law, Anita McGuire of Mt. Pleasant; brother-in-law, Dick Rose of Rose City; 19 nieces and nephews; and many grandnieces and grandnephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Frank McGuire, Mary Baker, Joseph, James and D. Leo McGuire, Patricia Rose, and two infant brothers, Donald and Robert McGuire; and nephew, Craig Falconer.
