Margie Stickney, 76, of Canadian Lakes and formerly of Mt. Pleasant passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at home with her family by her side. Cremation has taken place and a Funeral Mass for Margie will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 20, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Loren Kalinowski presiding. A luncheon will follow at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 3-8 p.m. with the Vigil beginning at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Saturday one hour prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to Woodland Hospice, Sacred Heart Academy Foundation or Gifts and Memorials of Canadian Lakes. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Margie was born Oct. 30, 1938, in Mt. Pleasant, daughter of the late Fred and Lucille (Thering) McDonald. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1956 and earned her Bachelors Degree from Central Michigan University in 1960. During high school and college, she played the pipe organ at Sacred Heart. On June 18, 1966, she married Ronald Stickney at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Utica. During her career she worked for a number of catholic parishes as their music director. She was a member of St. Michaels Parish in Remus and a former member of Sacred Heart. She was the co-chair of Gifts and Memorials of Canadian Lakes and secretary of the board of Canadian Lakes Property Owners Corporation. Some of Margies favorite pastimes were gardening, music, playing piano and golfing. Margie is survived by her husband of nearly 49 years, Ronald; three children, Jeffrey (Carol) Stickney of Goodrich, Lori Stickney of Richmond and Amy (Gordon) Culver of Frankenmuth; five grandchildren, Alyssa, Carson and Isabel Stickney and Evelyn and Abigail Culver; four siblings, Kathleen Kearney of Washington, MI, Robert (Gail) McDonald of Mt. Pleasant, Ruth (Chuck) Johnson of The Villages, FL and Evelyn (Clifford) Schmidt of Jackson; five sisters-in-law, Leona J. McDonald, Barb McDonald, Marian McDonald and Leona M. McDonald, all of Mt. Pleasant and Sally McDonald of Rose Lake; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Jim, Dick, Jerry, John, Mary Worley, and Bill.
