Marian Lucille Mcdonald

Marian Lucille McDonald passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at Green Acres Assisted Living. She was 91. Marian was born on September 3, 1934, in Isabella County, Michigan, daughter to Allen and Iva (Fike) Weihl. She was raised in Coleman, graduating as salutatorian of Coleman High School in 1952. Her first job was as a bookkeeper at Farm Bureau Services from 1952-1957.

On August 17, 1957, Marian married Gerald McDonald at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, sharing a life of 53 years together until his passing in 2010. Their marriage was blessed with five children: Judy, Jeff, Steve, Tim, and Pat.

From 1960-1997 she worked part-time for Howard Ford Tractor in Mt. Pleasant (later to be called Howard's Dairy Systems). She was elected by Union Township as both Clerk (1978-1996) and Trustee (2000-2008).

Marian was very dedicated and busy with her many activities. She started bowling in 1957 and competed in four separate leagues (all of which she served as secretary). She was inducted into the Mt. Pleasant Bowlers Hall of Fame.

Marian volunteered in the gift shop at Central Michigan Community Hospital (now McLaren Central Michigan) for over 20 years. For her efforts, she was named volunteer of the year at the hospital and was recognized by the Mt. Pleasant Chamber of Commerce, receiving an Eagle Award as a volunteer who "soared" above and beyond in selfless service to the community. Marian was a huge Tigers fan, loved a good game of cards, and having lunch with her sisters, sisters in-law, and friends. Marian was a fixture at her children's and grandchildren's sporting events. Time spent with family was her greatest joy.

Her legacy of love and service will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Judy (Dave) Simons of Cadillac, Steve (Michelle) McDonald of Jackson, Tim (Christina) McDonald of Bay City, and Pat (Amy) McDonald of Mt. Pleasant;  daughter in-law, Penny McDonald of Cadillac; grandchildren, Ben (Ashley) Simons, John (Maggie) Simons, Matt (Rebekah) McDonald, Kyle McDonald, Travis (Christina) McDonald, Rachel (Jacob) Fase, Brooke Wrzesinski, Samantha McDonald, Kelsey McDonald, and Joe McDonald; great grandchildren, Hadley, Palmer, Jace, Charlie, and Isaac; in-laws, Linda Weihl, Jerry Gualdoni, Leona McDonald, Ruth Johnson, Kathleen Kearney, Ron Stickney, Cliff Schmidt, Gail McDonald, and Sally McDonald; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Iva Weihl; parents in-law, Fred and Lucille McDonald; husband, Jerry McDonald; son, Jeff McDonald; siblings and their spouses, Vernetta and Willard Carrick, Mildred and Duane Acker, Velma Marble, Edwin Weihl, and Carole Gualdoni; and in-laws, Jim and Leona McDonald, Dick and Barb McDonald, John McDonald, Bob McDonald, Bill McDonald, Mary and Gene Worley, Marge Stickney, Evelyn Schmidt, Chuck Johnson, and Tony Kearney.

A Funeral Mass for Marian will be celebrated at 12 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Andy Booms as the presider and Father Thomas McNamara as the homilist. A luncheon at Lincoln Reception Center will immediately follow. Rite of Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery after the meal. The family will receive friends at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home on Monday from 4-7 p.m. with the Vigil Service beginning at 7 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Tuesday one hour before Mass.
