Marie Kelly, 67, of Lake Isabella, passed away Friday, Jan. 29, 2010, at Woodland Hospice. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, at St. Joseph The Worker Church in Beal City with Father David Jenuwine presiding. Cremation will follow and her ashes will be interred in St. Joseph Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home, 2300 S. Lincoln Rd., Mt. Pleasant, on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. and on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. The Vigil will begin at 3:30 p.m. Monday. Visitation continues at the church on Tuesday one hour prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to Woodland Hospice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Marie was born July 16, 1942, in Sault Ste. Marie, MI, the daughter of the late Raymond and Beatrice (Laframboise) Meloche. After graduating from St. Cecilia High School, Detroit, in 1960, she married her high school sweetheart, Thomas Kelly on Nov. 24, 1962, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church. She worked as a lab technician in the pathology department of Grace Hospital in Detroit until they moved to Mt. Pleasant in 1971. She worked at various places including Dr. Deans office where she served as his insurance biller. She later became the office manager for an insurance billing company in Alma and Lansing. She taught insurance billing at Lansing Community College and ultimately wrote a text book on the subject. She retired in 1995. Marie was active in the Professional Business Womens Association in Lansing and volunteered her time at Woodland Hospice, serving on its executive board. She was a very talented woman. Some of her talents included oil painting, stained glass work, gardening, and she was also an avid seamstress. Marie is survived by her husband of 47 years, Thomas; four children, Lynn (Doug) Morton of Garden City, Thomas Kelly of Easton, PA, Raymond (Amy) Kelly of Edina, MN, and Edward Kelly of Owosso; nine grandchildren, Colin, Evan, and Joseph Morton, Ryan, Brayden, Tristan, and Brigid Kelly, and Katelyn and Spencer Kelly; six siblings, Patricia (Steve) Hardy and Donna (David) Hinks, both of Lake Isabella, Margaret Rudel of Gaylord, Elizabeth Duncan of Mt. Pleasant, Raymond (Janice) Meloche of Rhode Island, Katherine (Michael) Ricardo of Atlanta, GA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
