The family will receive friends on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the service begins at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Marie was born January 27, 1929, in Pontiac, daughter of the late Maurice and Edith (Wilton) Saddler. She married John Latzko in 1957 in Clare. Marie loved nothing more than working in her flower garden, playing a game of Bingo or sitting on the porch watching birds. In her yard, she grew Seven Sisters Roses, one of her favorite flowers. When her three sons were growing up, Marie took them fishing to a nearby pond, a tradition they observed with their own children. She helped to mow and keep up the area around the pond. For the neighborhoods children, she baked homemade chocolate chip and peanut butter cookies. She was a dedicated mother and good cook who never let anyone in her home go hungry. She is remembered fondly as a people person who could talk to anyone. Marie spent 20 years as a caregiver for her husband, who she met while working in a restaurant in Clare. Along with raising her own sons, she was like a mother to her two grandsons, Troy and Thai. When her grandchildren were young, Marie sat with them all on her lap and read to them. Anytime anyone, including Troys friends, was in need, she never hesitated to give them a place to stay and food to eat. She is survived by four children, Terry, Thomas, and Tim, all of Mt. Pleasant, and Nancy of Pontiac; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Averial Saddler and Grace McLane. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Latzko; nine siblings, Russell, George, Norman, Walter, Lawrence, Melferd, Irene, Isabella, and Audrey, To sign the online guest book or send a condolence to the family please visit www.LuxFamilyFuneralHome.com
