Her childhood was filled with love, and her family meant everything to her. Her siblings were her best friends. She grew up in a close-knit farming community and developed a love and appreciation for the loyalty and companionship an animal can give. Marilyn always had a head for numbers, so it was no surprise that she went into the accounting field. She attended Central Michigan University, taking accounting classes to further her knowledge. She enjoyed working both locally and in the Detroit area for employers such as Arthur E. Skeats, CPA, McGraw and Co., CPAs, Rehmann and Co., CPAs, and Bernard W. Wilson. In her free time, Marilyn enjoyed gardening, reading, and taking long walks around the Quillen homestead. She was an expert at finding treasures at garage and estate sales, and enjoyed this hobby with her brother, Jim and sister, Agnes. She introduced several younger members of the family to this pastime. One of her favorite things to do on a Saturday morning was to head to Lansing with her niece, Erin, and meet up with Agnes for a day of shopping at Jacobsons and the mall. After dinner at Ruby Tuesdays, she would head home with her finds, which often included a truly excellent pair of shoes. Marilyn will be remembered as someone who was quietly elegant. She was an independent and hardworking woman who could put on some red lipstick and look absolutely smashing. Marilyn could keep a secret, and as many of us can attest to, she would go to great lengths to help and support her family. If there was a family function, she was there. Marilyn is survived by her in-laws, Hedy Quillen, Clara Quillen, Beverly Powell, Bill Spencer, Tom Evans, and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Stella Parker, Rose Ellen DeShane, Viola Sheahan, Agnes Evans, Colleen Spencer, and Mildred Quillen; brothers, Martin, Patrick, James, and Jack Quillen; in-laws, Ike Parker, and Hank Sheahan; and several nieces and nephews. Throughout her lifetime, Marilyn has also known the love of her friends and pets, including; Sam, Mrs. Cat, Blinky, Sparkplug, Bogie, Louie, Mooch, Mick, Fancy Man, Pepper, Jet, Gypsy, and Gyp; as well as her niece Erins beautiful palomino, Komall; she loved them all, and they loved her.
