Marilynn Marvel, 89, of Rodney, passed away Thursday, December 9, 2021, at The Brook assisted living in Big Rapids. She was born July 7, 1932, in Canton, Ohio, daughter of the late Michael and Deloris (Shunk) Lackney. While living in California, Marilynn met Jack Marvel after he moved there from New York. The couple eventually married on June 26, 1952, in Saginaw, Michigan. In Marilynn's younger days, she was a staff artist for Look and Life Magazine's in Hollywood, Ca.  She also enjoyed gambling, reading mystery novels, crocheting, and dancing. Marilyn loved being social and threw fabulous parties.  She was also known to be very fashion conscious; Marilynn liked to cook and always provided a good meal on the Sabbath. She will be missed by many, especially by her family. She is survived by four children, Denise (Nick) Aho of Rodney, Z. Darrell (Patti) Marvel of Big Rapids, Diane Marvel of Grand Rapids, and David (Pam) Marvel of Rodney; five grandchildren, Jacob (Jessica) Aho, Tracy (Charlie) Salisbury, Colby Marvel, Ginger (Brad) Scott, and Ryan Jacks; seven great-grandchildren, Oakley, Noah, Abbey, Marley, MacKenzie, Hunter, and Alaura; and brother, Robert (Sandy) Lackney of Reed City. She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Deloris Lackney; and husband, Jack Marvel. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, December 13, at Riverside Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant with Rabbi Matthew Kaufman officiating.
