Marion Block, 83, of Beal City passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2017, at her home with her family by her side. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 9, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Beal City with Father Thomas Held as celebrant. Interment of her ashes will be in St. Joseph Cemetery immediately following Mass. The family will receive friends at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home on Friday from 3-8 p.m. with the Vigil beginning at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Saturday one hour prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to Woodland Hospice or the Commission on Aging. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church. Marion was born September 28, 1934, in Mt. Pleasant, daughter of the late Franklin Frank and Emma (Siefker) Verleger. She attended Sacred Heart Academy and married Lionel Block on June 14, 1952, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Marion was a devoted wife and mother, raising ten children while helping Lionel tend to the duties of the family farm. She was a member of St. Joseph Parish. Some of her favorite pastimes included reading books, fishing in Canada, and attending sporting events of her children and grandchildren. Marion is survived by eight children, Christy (Jim) Shock of Lake Isabella, Peggy (Dan) Methner of Remus, Sherry (Chris) Gruss of Beal City, Sandy (Mike) Yuncker of Beal City, Tammy (Steve) Aldrich of Riverdale, Phil (Amy) Block of Beal City, Steve (Lori) Block of Alma, and Tim (Buffy) Block of St. Louis; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Bob Monk of Merrill; in-laws, June (Dean) Stalter of Mt. Pleasant, Elizabeth Betty Endres of Mt. Pleasant, and William Bill Beltinck of Rosebush; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Emma Verleger; husband, Lionel Block; two daughters, Yvonne Monk and Cindy Parker; and siblings, Harold Verleger, Frances Weston, Leonard Verleger, Elaine Whitmore, and Dean Verleger.
