Marjorie Anne Mills, affectionately known as Marge, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her beloved husband and sons. Born on June 25, 1939, in a small farmhouse in Millington, Michigan, Marge was the eldest of three children born to the late Louis and Lorraine (Wirgau) Kolaja. She was delighted to be joined by her younger brothers, Richard and Gerald.
After graduating from Millington High School in 1957, Marge married her high school sweetheart, Robert Mills, on June 20, 1959, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Millington. Their marriage was blessed with four sons: Michael, David, Jeffrey, and Patrick. They moved to Clio and eventually settled in Mt. Pleasant in 1970.
Marge earned her bachelor's degree in education from Central Michigan University in 1984. She was hired by Coldwell-Banker and spent 37 years selling real estate. Marge and Bob loved to travel, with memorable trips to Australia, Germany, Ireland, France, Florida, Hawaii, and Alaska.
Marge adored her family and leaves behind her husband of 66 years, Bob; sons, Mike (Kelley) Mills of Anchorage, AK, Dave (Deidre) Mills of Grand Rapids, Jeff (Amy) Mills of Allegan, and Rick (Stacey) Mills of Harrison, AR. Her greatest joy was spoiling her 15 grandchildren, Maxwell, Olivia, Charlotte, Josephine, Jacob, Joseph, Matthew, Sasha, Sabrina, Cooper, Chloe, and Trace and 2 great grandchildren, Henry and Archie. Also surviving are her brothers, Richard (Judy) Kolaja of Millington and Gerald (Dawn) Kolaja of California; and several nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place. A Funeral Mass for Marjorie will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 30, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Immediately following, a luncheon will be held at Lincoln Reception Center (attached to the funeral home). The family will receive friends at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home on Friday, May 29, from 4-7 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Saturday, one hour before Mass. Marjorie will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the College of Education at CMU or to the Sacred Heart Academy Foundation.
