Mark Quillen, 58, of Mecosta and formerly of Mt. Pleasant, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, June 9, 2011, in Mecosta. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Loren Kalinowski presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the wishes of the family. Envelopes will be available at the Mass or at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home. Mark was born Aug. 3, 1952, in Mt. Pleasant the son of Patrick and Hedy (Neyer) Quillen. A graduate of Sacred Heart Academy in 1970, Mark was a truck driver in the California Bay Area for over 15 years. He returned to Michigan in the fall of 2010. His family is grateful to have enjoyed his company during his last year. A devout Catholic, Mark frequently attended daily Mass at St. Michaels Church in Remus. Mark is survived by his mother, Hedy Quillen of Mt. Pleasant; 10 siblings, Carol Quillen of Beal City, Michael Quillen of Mecosta, Connie (Jerry) Miller of Martinez, CA, Barbara Crandall of Beal City, Deborah (Marty) Predmesky of Beal City, Elizabeth (John) Judge of Winn, Daniel (Jennifer) Quillen of Hastings, Brian Quillen of St. Johns, Heidi Quillen of Mt. Pleasant, and Julie (Phil) Gross of Beal City; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Patrick in 2009.
