Martha O'Brien

Martha OBrien, 76, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at her home, with family at her side. Cremation has taken place and her funeral will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 17, at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home with Deacon Larry Fussman officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A luncheon will immediately follow at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Diabetes, Parkinson, Heart, Lung, Cancer, Advantage Hospice Care, or Sacred Heart Academy Foundation. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Martha was born June 11, 1941, in Mt. Pleasant, daughter of the late Donald and Elsie (Klumpp) Mead. She married James OBrien on July 24, 1975. Their marriage was blessed on July 26, 2009. Martha is survived by two sons, Dennis OBrien of Garrett, IN and Michael OBrien of Island Lake, IL; three stepsons, Phillip (Deb) OBrien of Cary, IL, David (Carlynn) OBrien of Hinsdale, IL, Paul (Sue) OBrien of Bettendorf, IA; and 14 grandchildren, Jacqueline Stephens, Jaclyn, Ethan, Stephanie, Neil, Johnny, Spencer, Jason, Justin, Cody, Kaylee, Mylee, Brystol, and James; one great-grandson, Aiden; three siblings, Larry Mead of Beal City, Donald (Jacquie) Mead of Hopkins, and Lorraine Payne of Coldwater; step-sister, Shirley Wallace; three stepbrothers, Mark (Dolly) Elliott of Pennsylvania, Harold (Barb) Elliott of Texas and Joe (Carol) Elliott of Maryland; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald Mead (1977) and Elsie (Klumpp) Mead-Elliott (1994); husband, James OBrien (2010); step-daughter, Therese Ann OBrien (1978); two sisters, Virginia Sheldon (1995) and Rosemary Hoffman (2003); step-father, Warren Elliott; and step-brother, Ron Elliott.
