Martin Schleder, 64, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Friday, May 4, 2012, at McLaren Central Michigan. His funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 8, at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home, 2300 S. Lincoln Rd., with Pastor Merritt Bongard officiating. Cremation will follow. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 5-8 p.m. and on Tuesday one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Martin was born September 15, 1947, in St. Johns, son of George and Marian (Graham) Schleder. He graduated from Ithaca High School in 1966 and received his Associates Degree from Lansing Community College. He married Elisa Quezada on September 3, 1978 in Mt. Pleasant. He was employed by Mid Michigan Correctional Facility in St. Louis for 20 years, retiring in 2010. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and traveling to Wyoming. He was a history buff and was an avid Lions fan. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Elisa; three children, Maria (Mike) Sandel of Mt. Pleasant, Leo (Brandi) Hall of Hornell, NY, and Marty Schleder of Mt. Pleasant; nine grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; his mother, Marian Schleder of Ithaca; two sisters, Muriel (Phillip) Derby of Ithaca and Lois (Merritt) Bongard of Ludington; and many nieces and nephews. He had a special place in his heart for his nieces Melissa Trick and Ginny Quezada and his great-nephew, Quinn Henkes. He was preceded in death by his father, George; and nephew, David Derby.
