Mary Ann Bennett, 89, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Thursday, September 30, 2021, at Green Acres Assisted Living in Mt. Pleasant. Mary Ann was born September 26, 1932, in Detroit, Michigan, daughter of the late Fredrick and Mary (Gall) Baker. She married Clarence Bennett on October 7, 1950, in Allen Park, Michigan and, together, raised five children, Christopher, Lynne, Patricia, Robin, and Faith. Mary was employed by both Spartan and Montgomery Ward as a bookkeeper. She enjoyed reading, playing the lottery, and visiting casinos. Mary was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church. She was involved with the women's and altar guild. She was a current member of Zion Lutheran Church in Mt. Pleasant. Mary is survived by four children, Lynne Lee and Patricia Bennett, both of Shepherd, and Robin (Michael) Boettcher and Faith (Marvin) Kolin, both of Monroe; 14 grandchildren; over 30 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; and brother, Fredrick (Charlene) Baker of Allen Park. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence; son, Christopher Bennett; and sister, Clara Moilanen. Mary's funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 6, at Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Jonathon Bakker and Pastor Garrick Beckett co-officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 3401 E. River Rd., Mt. Pleasant MI 48858.
