Mary Delores Bower

Mary Bower, 79, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Sunday, October 7, 2018, at MidMichigan Healthcare in Midland. The family will receive friends at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 10, from 4-7 p.m. with the Vigil beginning at 7 p.m. The Funeral Mass for Mary will be celebrated at 12 p.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Loren Kalinowski as celebrant. A luncheon will immediately follow at Lincoln Reception Center (attached to the funeral home). Interment will be in St. Henry Cemetery after the luncheon. Memorial contributions may be made to the wishes of the family. Envelopes will be available at the church and funeral home. Mary was born September 27, 1939, in Mt. Pleasant, daughter of the late John R. and Mary (Myshock) Welniak. She married Eugene Bower on December 1, 1962, at St. Charles Catholic Church in Leaton. Mary was a first grade teacher at Coleman Elementary for 32 years. She was a member of St. Agnes Parish in Sanford and enjoyed flower gardening, crocheting, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Mary is survived by two daughters, Rose Lawler of Mt. Pleasant and Jean (Frank) Jeske of Sanford; five grandchildren, Mark (Katie) Lawler, Kristine Lawler, Sarah Lawler, Chelsea Jeske, and Travis Jeske; two great grandchildren, Madison and Ryan Lawler; brother, Richard (Sandra) Welniak of Mt. Pleasant; sister, Patricia (Ray) Faber of Mecosta; and special friend, Keith Johnson of Coleman. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eugene Bower; brother, John Welniak; and sister, Vicki Faber.
