Mary C. Courtright, 89, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007, at her home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Robert Byrne presiding. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Beal City. Friends may call at Lux Funeral Home on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with the vigil beginning at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Saturday from 9-10 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sacred Heart Academy Foundation, Parkinsons Foundation, or to the new Hospice House at Hospice of Central Michigan. Mary was born Oct. 9, 1918, in Beal City, the daughter of William J. and Ida (Hagley) Tilmann. She married Vol Courtright Sept. 2, 1939 at St. Philomena Church in Beal City. Some of Marys favorite pastimes were gardening, fishing, playing cards, traveling, sewing, and collecting bird figurines. Most dear to her was faith and family. She has been a member of Sacred Heart Parish since 1940 where she belonged to the Catholic Daughters and the Knights of Columbus ladies auxiliary. Mary is survived by five children, Susanne (William) Fanning of Rockford, Nancy (Richard) Sloss of Clearwater, Fla., William (Barb) Courtright of Clare, Jerry (Marcia) Courtright of Mt. Pleasant, and Marilyn (William) Shafer of West Olive; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two brothers, William Tilmann of Tucson, AZ and Eugene Tilmann of Mt. Pleasant; sister, Mildred (Ed) Schafer of Beal City; sister-in-law, Dorothy Tilmann of Beal City; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Vol Polly in 1987; two grandsons, Jason Shafer in 1989 and David Shafer in 2007; brother, Albert Tilmann in 2004; and infant sister, Irene Tilmann.
