Mary Hutchins, 94, of Mt. Pleasant passed away peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011, at New Hope Assisted Living. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, 168 E. Wright Ave., in Shepherd with Father Fred Kawka presiding. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Fremont Township. The family will receive friends at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home, 2300 S. Lincoln Rd., on Friday from 4-8 p.m. with the Vigil beginning at 7 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Saturday one hour prior to the Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to Commission on Aging, St. Vincent De Paul Church, or Woodland Hospice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Mary was born June 30, 1916, in Isabella Township, Isabella County, the daughter of the late Frank and Belle (Sutton) Sheehan. She married the late Raymond Hutchins in 1941. After graduating from Central Michigan College she taught in her early years, but spent most of her life as a homemaker raising her family on the family farm near Mt. Pleasant. Mary enjoyed playing cards, watching her favorite TV shows and spending time with all her family and friends. Mary was a kind and caring person who never had a bad word to say about anyone. She was a long time member of St. Leos Catholic Church in Winn and was deeply devoted to her faith. Mary is survived by her children, Susan (John) McIntyre of Saginaw, James (Patti) Hutchins of Milford, Paul (Diana) Hutchins of Mt. Pleasant, Richard (Ann) Hutchins of Livonia, Terry (Sherri) Hutchins of Mt. Pleasant and Linda (Jeff) Lubeck of Hailey, ID; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Sheehan of Gladwin; two sisters, Betty Cech of Vermont and Florence Lipp of Flint; two sisters-in-law, Betty Sheehan of Wildomar, CA, and Marge Sheehan; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond in 1989; an infant son; grandson, John McIntyre in 2000; six brothers, Mike, Pat, Tom, Bill, Paul and Jim Sheehan; and four sisters, Ruth Holmes, Joan Lynch, Nancy Thurlow and Virginia McKenna.
