Mary Cole, 88, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010, at Central Michigan Community Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Loren Kalinowski presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home, 2300 S. Lincoln Rd., on Tuesday from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. with the Rosary beginning at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Wednesday one hour prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Academy Foundation. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Mary was born Jan. 6, 1922, in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of the late Robert and Anna (OHara) Scully. She was married to Charles Frederick Cole on Oct. 22, 1947. Marys uncle, Father Edward OHara, officiated the ceremony. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy and worked as an LPN at Central Michigan Community Hospital early in her career. She retired from the Mt. Pleasant Center in 1984 after more than 25 years. She was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Parish. Some of Marys favorite pastimes were sewing, crocheting, reading, and spending time with family and friends. Mary is survived by eight children, Bernadette (John) Herreshoff and Kathleen Cole both of Mt. Pleasant, Margaret (Ernest) Fulk of Blanchard, Marilyn Cole, Jim (Beverly) Cole, Mary Ellen (Tim) McArthur, and Joanne (Mike) Lamb all of Mt. Pleasant, and Betty (Ray) Roethlisberger of Alma; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Margaret Millard and Rose Ann Forton of Mt. Pleasant and Lucille Tilmann of Beal City; one brother, Bill (Ilene) Scully of Rosebush; two sister-in-law, Esther Cotter of Mt. Pleasant and Linda Cole of Midland; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Fred Cole; two brothers, Edward and sister-in-law, Edna Scully and Robert Scully.
