Kitty Leasher, 71, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Thursday, September 18, 2008 at home, surrounded by her family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 22, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Loren Kalinowski presiding and Deacon Larry Fussman assisting. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home, 2300 S. Lincoln, on Sunday from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. The Vigil will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Visitation continues at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the Mass begins. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sacred Heart Academy Foundation or to Central Michigan Right To Life. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Kitty was born October 9, 1936, in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of the late James and Irene (Kanine) Murphy. She married Bill Leasher on Nov. 10, 1956 at Sacred Heart. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1955, and was one of the founding members of the SHA Foundation. A devout Catholic, Kitty was a life member of Sacred Heart Parish. She was also a charter member of Central Michigan Right To Life. Kitty was very active in the operations of the family business, Leasher Electric, Inc. Some of her favorite pastimes were painting, gardening, cooking, shopping, and traveling. The most important thing in her life was her family, especially her grandchildren. Kitty is survived by her husband, Bill; two sons, Mark (Julie) Leasher and Gary Leasher both of Mt. Pleasant; six grandchildren, Bailey, Jordan, and Dylan Leasher and Ethan, Devon, and Aaron Leasher; two sisters, Lois Pringle of Mt. Pleasant and Patricia Murphy of Midland; her brother, James Murphy of Ann Arbor; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Michael, Gerald, and Jack Murphy; a sister, Shirley Moose; two infant brothers, William and Peter Murphy; and an infant sister, Elizabeth Murphy.
