Mary E. Lewis

Mary E. Lewis, 60, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Monday, January 21, 2008 at Central Michigan Community Hospital. She was born August 14, 1947, in Mt. Clemens, the daughter of Meredith and Jeanne (Weeks) Bayer. Mary graduated from Durand High School in 1965 and later received both a bachelor and masters degree from Western Michigan University. On September 1, 1973, she married Patrick Lewis in Corunna, Michigan. Together they lived in numerous places including East Lansing, Kalamazoo, South Korea, and Highland. In 2002 they moved to Mt. Pleasant. Some of Marys favorite pastimes were gardening, reading, cooking, and crocheting. Mary leaves behind her husband of 34 years, Patrick Lewis of Weidman; three loving children, Andrew (Nicole Kazee) Lewis of New York, NY, Caroline (Scott) Matzka of Odense, Denmark, and Eric Lewis of Mt. Pleasant; her parents, Meredith and Jeanne Bayer of Tucson, AZ; two brothers, Raymond Bayer of Pune, India, and Richard (Martha) Bayer of San Diego, CA; and her sister, Martha (Fred) Cooper of Highland. The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, January 26, at Lux Funeral Home and Cremation Service. They invite all who knew her to gather with them and share memories.
