Mary Alice Miller (Jones)

Mary Miller, age 83, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Friday, December 9, 2022, at Green Acres in Mt. Pleasant. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 13th from 4-7 p.m. at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Care Team Home Health & Hospice or Beal City Public School (Sports Boosters). Mary was born October 21, 1939, to parents Lester and Virgie (Snyder) Jones. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1956. On July 27, 1957, she married Bernard "Gene" Miller at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant. Mary worked as a clerical employee at Central Michigan University, retiring in 1999. She enjoyed working in her flower garden, hosting big family dinners, and watching sporting events of her children and grandchildren. Mary is survived by five children, Karen (Paul) Gross of Mt. Pleasant, Karla (Doug) Stewart of Petoskey, Kal (Pam) Miller of Jackson, Bernie (Darlene) Miller of Beal City and Dan (Julie) Miller of Mt. Pleasant; daughter-in-law, Michele Miller of Midland; 16 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren (with two more on the way); brothers, Howard (Mary Lou) Jones, Thomas (Darlene) Jones, John (Chris) Jones; sisters, Janet Durfee and Nancy Bowers; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bernard "Gene" Miller; two sons, Matt and Ken Miller; brother, Chas. "Jim" Jones; and granddaughter, Samantha Pappas. The family would like to thank the staff and administrators at Green Acres and Rosebush Manor for the loving way they cared for Mary during her struggle with Parkinson's disease and dementia.
