Mary Theresa Thatcher, 86, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2009, at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility. Cremation has taken place and her Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father David Jenuwine presiding. The family will receive friends at the church 30 minutes prior to Mass. Interment of her ashes will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Memory Care Unit at Isabella County Medical Care Facility, Commission on Aging or to Central Michigan Community Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the church or at the Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home. Mary was born July 1, 1923, in Ironwood, the daughter of Charles and Anna (Merinzich) Kalcich. She married the late, Fred Thatcher on Jan. 5, 1945, in Joliet, IL. A graduate of Ironwood High School, Mary received her nursing degree from Joliet College. She worked as a Registered Nurse for 10 years at Central Michigan Community Hospital and 20 years at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility, retiring in 1985. In her retirement she volunteered at the Commission on Aging and also at the Salvation Army. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish. Mary is survived by two daughters, Patricia (James) Hutchins of Milford and Mary Jane (Edward) McCormack of Mt. Pleasant; seven grandchildren, Curt (Nancy) Hutchins of China, Chris (Juliet) Hutchins of South Carolina, Matt (Steph) Hutchins of Detroit, Debbie (Rick) Ratcliff of Detroit, and Mindy Wischmeyer, Sheri (Jeff) Noordhof, and Jodi Wischmeyer, all of Mt. Pleasant; 11 grandchildren including her special great-grandson, Cade Wischmeyer-Taylor; and her brother, Rudy (Diane) Kalcich of Phoenix, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred in 1985; granddaughter, Gina Marie Wischmeyer; two brothers, George and Lawrence Kalcich; and two sisters, Josephine Clement and Theresa Sebeldon.
