Mary Ellen Bierschbach, 86, of Beal City, passed away Monday, April 15, 2024, at Prestige Centre in Mt. Pleasant. A Funeral Mass for Mary will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 19, at St. Joseph the Worker Church in Beal City with Father Tom McNamara presiding. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, with a luncheon to follow at the Beal City Knights of Columbus Hall. The family will receive friends at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. with the Vigil beginning at 7:00 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Friday one hour prior to Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Prestige Centre, in memory of Mary Bierschbach. Envelopes are available at the funeral home or church. Mary was born on July 16, 1937, in Reed City, daughter of the late Elmer and Ina (McCain) Tower. She married James E. Bierschbach on June 19,1954 at St. Phillip Catholic Church in Reed City. Their marriage was blessed with ten children, Fred, Keitha, Pete, Lydia, Donna, James, Clara, Carl, Mary, and Alex. Mary enjoyed being a homemaker. She loved to cook, and always provided the most wonderful homecooked meals for her family. Mary also enjoyed sewing, quilting, and knitting, providing endless pairs of mittens for her children. She was an avid gardener and loved to can the fruits of her labor. Mary was a member of St. Joseph Parish and a lifelong member of the Altar Society. After James retired, they enjoyed many years of traveling. Mary is survived by her children, Keitha (Al) Cain of Colleyville, TX, Pete (Sue) Bierschbach of Midland, Lydia Bierschbach of Beal City, Donna (Bob) Rogers of Salt Lake City, UT, James Bierschbach of Phoenix, AZ, Clara (Ron) Baldwin of Remus, Carl (Lisa) Bierschbach of Ortonville, and Mary (Heather Behrens) Bierschbach of Fenton; daughter in law, Jennifer Bierschbach of Lake Isabella; 23 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; brother, Gordon (Linda) Tower of Cedar Springs, MI; and sister, Nancy Bodman of Evart, MI. She was preceded in death by both parents; Husband James E. Bierschbach in 2013; sons, Fred Bierschbach and Alex Bierschbach; half-brother, Floyd Farrar; brother in law, Harold Bodman; three grandchildren, Anthony Scott Cain, Kelli Renae Baldwin, and Ryan Alexander Bierschbach; and a great granddaughter, Adalyn Grace Bierschbach.
