Mary Lou Wilmot, 74, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Thursday, May 15, 2014, at Woodland Hospice with her family by her side. Her funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 19, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Loren Kalinowski presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at Sacred Heart Parish Hall. The family will receive friends at Lux Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant on Sunday from 2-8 p.m. with the Vigil beginning at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Monday one hour prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Church or Woodland Hospice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Mary Lou was born Jan. 16, 1940, in Lansing, daughter of the late Clarence S. and Ethel M. (Willis) Hazelton. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1958 and married James H. Wilmot on June 21, 1958 at Sacred Heart. She worked in retail sales most of her life and retired from the real estate industry. Some of her favorite pastimes were visiting with friends and relatives and making ceramics, which she sold at various craft shows. Most important to Mary Lou was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mary Lou is survived by her husband of nearly 56 years, Jim; two children, Laurie (Pat) Schafer of Canadian Lakes and Tim (Carey) Wilmot of Shepherd; five grandchildren, Chris (Leigh Ann) Schafer, Ben (Rachel) Schafer, Tony Wilmot, Heather (Craig) Fletcher and Jamie (Laken) Wilmot; seven great-grandchildren, James, Will, Lauren, Ethan, Lucas, Colin and Juliet; one brother, Duane (Barb) Hazelton of Mt. Pleasant; and many nieces and nephews.
