Marydeana Davis Duckworth, 85, of Alma, Michigan, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Mid-Michigan Hospital-Midland in Midland, Michigan. Marydeana was born on July 24, 1930 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Wilson L. and Gertrude L. (Greenman) Davis. On June 19, 1953 in Evanston, Illinois, she married Gene R. Duckworth. Gene passed away on February 9, 1990. Marydeana was a school teacher for the Mt. Pleasant Public Schools, teaching for most of her career at Ganiard Elementary School. She received her M.A. and B.S. Degrees from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Mt. Pleasant where she was a member of the Presbyterian Women. Marydeana was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Daughters of the American Revolution, an advisor for Zeta Tau Alpha and the Girl Scouts. She was a member of the Middle of the Mitten Red Hats Society, where she was a Past Queen Mom. She was a member of the General Federation of Womens Club, the Mt. Pleasant Historical Society and the Isabella Genealogy Society. Survivors include Marydeanas two daughters, Annajeanelle and William McInnis of Farwell, Michigan and Saramichelle and Christopher Duris of Watervliet, Michigan; five grandchildren, Patrick, Cory, and Meagan McInnis and Andrew and Claire Duris; three great grandchildren, Skyler and Lillyanna Ficek, and Cameron McInnis. Marydeana was preceded in death by her husband, both parents and a grandson, Christopher McInnis. A service celebrating Marydeanas life will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. from the First Presbyterian Church, 1250 Watson Road, Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Andrew Miller and Dr. Stephen Shugert officiating. A luncheon will be held immediately following the service in the Witherspoon Room at the church. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. in Rose Lawn Cemetery, Perry, Michigan. Friends may call at Rowley Funeral Home on Friday, May 20 from 5-8 p.m. and again on Saturday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. An Order of the Eastern Star service will be held on Friday at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in Marydeanas memory have been suggested to the Presbyterian Women. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and the church.
