Matthew Duffiney, 49, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Sunday, January 21, 2024, with his family by his side, after a long battle with MS. Matthew was born July 4, 1974, in Pontiac, Michigan, son of Alfred Joseph and Mary Anne (Kilbreath) Duffiney. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 2000 and has been employed by Mid-Michigan Industries for over 15 years. Matthew participated in Special Olympics with a focus on Bocce Ball. His passion was cooking, having collected countless recipes and as many as 2,000 cookbooks. He was a wiz at puzzles, word searches, and video games. Matthew loved people in general. He enjoyed working within the community and made many friends throughout his life. Ladies adored him. His charming personality garnered him several girlfriends. Above all, Matthew was loved dearly by his family, who will miss him tremendously. Matthew is survived by his mother, Mary Duffiney of Mt. Pleasant; five siblings, Courtenay (Darrell) Chippeway of Mt. Pleasant, Lucas (Erica) Duffiney of Mt. Pleasant, Theresa (Jeremy) Antio of Powell, TN, Katherine Duffiney of Mt. Pleasant, and Nathan Duffiney of Mt. Pleasant; maternal grandfather, Floyd Kilbreath of Coleman; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Duffiney, paternal grandfather, Alfred Duffiney Sr.; paternal grandmother, Margaret Duffiney; maternal grandmother, Mary Kilbreath; uncle, Floyd Kilbreath Jr.; nephews, Evan Duffiney and Lucas Duffiney; and faithful canine, Wolfie. A Funeral Service, celebrating Matthew's life, will be held at 12 p.m. Thursday, January 25, at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home with Deacon Jim Damitio officiating. The family will receive friends from 10-12 p.m. Following the service, all are invited to join the family for a meal and refreshments in Lincoln Reception Center (attached to the funeral home). In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the to the Wishes of Family. (checks payable: Mary Duffiney) Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
