Maurice Ray Scott

Maurice Ray Scott, 85, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, passed away on September 2, 2026, surrounded by family. Maurice was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose life was defined by hard work, quiet strength, and unwavering love for his family. Surrounded by those he loved Maurice leaves behind a legacy of dedication, cherished memories, and a family forever shaped by his care and guidance.

Maurice was born on February 10, 1941, in Beech Grove, Kentucky, to Barney and Vi Ella Scott. He spent most of his life in St. Charles, Michigan, where he built a home and raised his family.

Maurice shared 66 years of marriage with the love of his life, June Scott. Their life together reflected a deep and lasting commitment to one another and to the family they built. He was a devoted father to his four daughters, Deborah, Karen, Kimberly, and Kelly. His family always came first, and there was nothing he wouldn't do for his girls.

A hardworking and determined man, Maurice built his own company, Michigan Medical Products, Inc., and owned and operated it for 20 years.

In his younger years, Maurice enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking. He loved being outdoors and working with his hands. Maurice especially enjoyed spending time on his tractor; whether he was digging holes, turning over trees, or simply riding around his property, he loved working on his land.

As he got older, Maurice developed a passion for the stock market, keeping up with the news, and simply enjoying life with his family. Maurice and June also enjoyed spending their winters in Moore Haven, Florida, escaping the Michigan cold and enjoying the sunshine.

Maurice is survived by his wife, June; his daughters, Deborah Anderson (Ward), Karen Bruce (Jim), Kimberly Hankins (Michael), and Kelly Suppes (Brad); his grandchildren, Jennifer, Melissa, Eric, Lindsay, Kyle, Alyssa, Kasey, Kaitlyn, Ryan, Trevor, Lucas, and Alex; 12 great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Jo Wetzel, David Scott, and Nancy Leonforte.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Heartland Hospice Team for the compassionate care, kindness, and support they provided to Maurice and his family during this difficult time.

In accordance with his wishes, a private cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Maurice’s memory to the American Heart Association or Cancer Research.

Maurice leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a family who will carry his love, lessons, and legacy with them always.
